Centrally located in Korea, Chungbuk is a convenient landlocked hub for traveling throughout Korea. However, this province has many cultural offerings within its own boundaries that not only allow for a great experience but are easy on the wallet and are a short bus-ride away. Here is a top 10 list of activities I challenge you to venture during your stay in our province.
1. HOT SPRINGS (Suanbo-myeon, Chungju City and Naesu-myeon, Cheongwon County)

Relax your mind, body, and soul at one of the two hot-spot hot springs in Chungbuk.

Enjoy the many indoor and outdoor hot springs and spa facilities of Suanbo located outside the city limits of Chungju.

If you wish to have a unique spa experience, try Chojeong Medicinal Waters Spatel in the village of Naesu of Cheongwon County. This resort offers various baths filled with natural sparkling water.
2. BUNGEE JUMPING (Cheongpung-myeon, Jecheon City)
For thrill-seekers, you can experience Korea's highest bungee jump board at 62 meters just outside of Jecheon City. Located in the village of Cheongpung, Cheongpung Land Bungee offers single bungee jumps at 40,000 won. Gravity-defying Ejection Seat and Big Swing rides are also available at 20,000 won and 18,000 won, respectively. Rock-climbing is also available on site. The surrounding area of Cheongpung offers other cultural experiences including the Cherry Blossom Festival every April, rice-cake making and Korean tradition dye craft workshops.

3. KOREAN TRADITIONAL MUSIC (Yongsan-myeon, Yeongdong County)
Yeongdong is home to Nangye, a pseudonym that has become synonymous with Korean traditional music. Experience the artistry of instrument manufacturing. Given the day of your visit, you may be able to enjoy a traditional concert and experience hands-on the different instruments that compose the Korean traditional orchestra at Nangye Traditional Musical Instrument Manufacturing Center located in Yongsan, Yeongdong

4. POTTERY MAKING (Yongsan-myeon, Yeongdong County)
Learn about the ancient art of Korean pottery and experience throwing your own ceramic bowl first-hand at Tosarang near Nangye Traditional Musical Instrument Manufacturing Center in Yeongdong County.

5. SPELUNKING (Danyang County)

If you have no fear of enclosed spaces, explore the 1.7 km depths of 500 million year old natural limestone in Danyang's Gosu Cave. Gosu Cave is open from 9 AM to 5 PM throughout the year.
6. SANGSU HERB LAND (Buyong-myeon, Cheongwon County)
Sangsu Herb Land, located just outside of Cheongju in Buyeong village of Cheongwon County, is Korea's largest herb farm. See, feel and taste the power of herbs for an admission fee of only 1,500 won!


7. TEMPLE STAY
Visit the biggest standing statue of Maitreya Buddha in the East at 33 meters during a temple stay at Beopjusa Temple, located within Sognisan National Park.

8. SANGDANG MOUNTAIN FORTRESS (Cheongju City)
Sangdangsanseong, or Sandang Mountain Fortress, is a historical site that dates back to the Three Kingdoms Era. The stone wall surrounds Sangdang Mountain and spans 4.1 km. Breathtaking to visit during the peak of each season, the fortress not only provides an impressive view but also allows for a good hike. The base of the mountain is expansive enough for a leisure picnic or a fun game of catch.


9. JECHEON INTERNATIONAL MUSIC & FILM FESTIVAL (Jecheon City)
Korea's first music and film festival, the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival is held every summer.

10. EIGHT WONDERS (Danyang County)
Haseonam, Jungseonam, Sangseonam, Sainam, Gudambong, Oksunbong, Dodamsambong, and Seokmun are the treasured eight wonders in Danyang that contain many historically and culturally important relics. Take the ferry tour or boat cruise and enjoy the scenic view up close for under 10,000 won.
