End of Year Banquet
The Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education (COE) ended the year with a holiday banquet. Guest English Teachers (GETs), TaLK Scholars, co-teachers and other professionals spent the night reminiscing through discussions, slideshow presentations, speeches, and other performances. Thank you, GETs, for a wonderful year!

News for Spring Semester 2010
Spring 2010 marked the beginning for 60 new Guest English Teachers in Chungbuk. As the number of Chungbuk GETs has been steadily increasing, the COE has drafted new plans to meet the demands of settling new Guest English Teachers into a foreign environment and to best utilize the given resources of the Guest English Teacher Project.
Teaching Evaluation & Contest. COE GETs will get the chance to not only participate in a contest with prizes but will have opportunities for professional development through the Teaching Evaluation & Contest. The objectives of this contest will help merge the previous work of GET consultations and in-service training. Newly placed GETs will submit an unedited video of a full-length class with a lesson plan and self-critique based on review of their video. The judging panel, decided by the COE, will review all three items, assigning scores for each teacher while providing personalized feedback. The COE will then directly observe classes of the top 10 and bottom 10. The top 10 will advance to the second stage of the contest with the top winners receiving prizes.
Cultural Experiences. The winners of the contest will be able to go on a unique cultural experience.
Collection of Lesson Plans. The collected lesson plans will be printed as another resource for current and future GETs to utilize.
Formal Awards Ceremony & End of Semester Party. The top-scoring GETs will formally receive an award at the End of Semester Banquet.
Professional Development & Cultural Workshop. All teachers will experience an overnight workshop that includes discussions, class observations, and cultural experiences later in the year.
