Three staff members of the National Institute for International Education participated in the NAFSA (Association of International Educators) Conference & EXPO held in Kansas City, Missouri, the United States from June 2 to June 5 to promote public education opportunities in Korea (EPIK and TaLK) and a government scholarship program (Study in Korea). There were approximately 7,200 educators from various universities and other educational institutes from 94 countries.

During the 4-day conference, about 350 participants visited the NIIED booth in person and displayed interest in the EPIK and TaLK programs, stating that the programs would be good for their students as well as themselves. The EPIK staff was very excited to learn that some of the visitors already applied to teach through EPIK for the Fall 2010 semester.
While they were staying in Kansas City, KAFSA (Korean Association of Foreign Student Administrators) held a "Korean Night" reception on Thursday, June 3. Approximately 500 visitors participated, some engaging in person-to-person diplomatic activities and others networking. The president of NIIED gave the welcoming remarks for the reception and had a presentation of the EPIK and TaLK programs as a representative of Korea on Friday, June 4 at the conference. The NIIED staff members had the pleasure of meeting numerous educators who were interested in the EPIK and TaLK programs and was pleased with the results.
